Biography

Titles: BSc (Physiotherapy)(UDW); MMedSci (NMSM); Med (Natal); MMD (UKZN); PhD (UCT)

Niri Naidoo is an Associate Professor in the Division of Physiotherapy, Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

She is a Physiotherapist by clinical background. She started exploring academic aspects of higher education whilst working as a clinician (in South Africa and in the USA) mainly in the areas of musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary conditions. She joined the Division of Physiotherapy at the University of Cape Town and went on to complete her PhD in the areas of childhood obesity and physical activity in typically developing children and in children with intellectual disability, as well as physical fitness, gross motor function and quality of life across the lifespan. She served as the Head of the Division of Physiotherapy at UCT for the last 5 years. She is involved in the supervision of Masters and PhD students’ research and has a keen interest in assessments and teaching pedagogies in higher education practice.
