Biography

Dr. Arch. Paul Aloyo is a professionally registered architect with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors 9BORAQS) with a number of years of professional experience. In addition, he has taught at various universities since 2001 across different disciplines, including the Sports Department and Early Childhood Development where he taught sports facility planning, design, implementation and maintenance.

While sports facilities theory, in it real and imagined expression,  has been important in his endeavors,  Dr. Aloyo is a sports enthusiast and actively plays in the National Chess League, where he also co-ordinates the colleges and universities for Kenya Chess Association. For recreation, he plays squash, swims, loves of cycling, plays tennis, badminton, and table tennis, among others. These games, from an experimental feel engender different spatial qualities mediated by materials and space which from a first-hand experience Dr. Aloyo is able to go beyond metrics into a phenomenology of sports spaces. Dr. Aloyo delights in discovering the nuances in the  nexus of the techniques and tactics that arise in the activities, through the individual and collective  joys of participants, within sports spaces as they ultimately speak to the human spirit.
