Marchel is currently the Executive Director of the Gambia National Sport Council charged with the responsibility to:
- Advise the Minister of Youth and Sport on competitive games and physical recreation matters
- In collaboration with national sport associations, prepare national teams for international duties
- Collaborate with national sport associations and stakeholders to develop policies and strategic plans for athletes’ development
- Monitor the activities of national sport associations
- Implement strategies aimed at promoting sport
- Increase visibility of the National Sport Council (NSC), services and activities
- Initiate and implement sport programs and trainings
- Built an effective team of leaders which includes guidance and coaching of staff
- Ensure adherence of the organization’s daily activities and long-term plans to establish policies and guidelines
- Direct and oversee the day-to-day management of the NSC secretariat
- Forge and maintain relations of trust with shareholders and external authorities
- Represent the National Sport Council and Ministry of Youth and Sport at local and international forums by doing presentations
- Prepare and submit quarterly reports to the Ministry of Youth and Sport and annual reports at the National Assembly
- Coordinate the organization of national sport programs
- Devise remedial actions for any identified issues and conducted crisis management when necessary
