Vida Korleki Nyawornota is an assistant lecturer in the Physical Education and Sports Studies Department at the University of Ghana Legon. She is also a PhD Candidate with the Regional Institute for Population Studies at the University of Ghana.She obtained her MPhil in Health Policy Planning and Management from the School of Public Health at the University of Ghana Legon in 2010 and Bachelor of Education in Physical Education in 2002 at the University of Education, Winneba.
She is a member of the Active Healthy Kids Ghana (AHKG), a team that published the 2014, 2016, and 2018 Ghana Reports Card on Physical Activity for Children and the Youth. She is also a member of the International Society of Behavioural Nutrition Physical Activity (ISBNPA) and the International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH)
Vida has over 20 years of experience in sports for development, physical education and school sports, physical activity in special populations, sports policy, capacity building, and research.
Her areas of specialism include sports policy and strategy development, international youth sports development, training, and research. She has undertaken youth sport development projects and pedagogical training in Bahrain, Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Paris and United Arab Emirates (UAE) and in Ghana.
Her research interest is in children and youth physical activity and overweight, the built environment, and active transportation. She is also into the development of lifelong skills in children and the youth through sports. Vida likes playing football, hockey, rugby and reading.
